Dogs
I know many of you are dog *lovers*. You love your dogs. I know. They are part of your family, they eat with you, sleep with you, take trips with you. They are your best friends. I can appreciate that. I, however, am not a dog lover. I like them, when they're well behaved and un-smelly. (I know, so harsh.)
Regardless of my feelings of dogs I am dog-sitting this week to help soemone out. She (the dog) is very small and cute and I'm taking very good care of her. I feel badly though that she is at home all day alone so I thought today I would treat her and bring her to work with me for the morning so she could have some company. Well, when I was putting all of her stuff in my car this morning she ran out the front door and TOOK OFF down the street. Fast. You would have thought there was a HUGE PILE OF DOG TREATS at the end of the road the way she was running. I couldn't keep up. She ran up the street, down the street, in backyards, under fences, frontyards and behind trees. I was following her closely trying to see exactly where she was going and trying to get her attention. By this time she has marked her territory about 6 times. I squat down in the middle of the street, call her name and she starts running towards me. (Thank god.) I think this show is going to be over because she's running straight at me, well, she doesn't slow down. She runs full-steam at me, takes a flying leap, JUMPS OVER ME, and continues down the street. Damn it.
I'm about to give up when she comes waltzing back like we were just out for a stroll. Except now she wants to be picked up because she's tired, all of that running really takes a lot out of a dog. Well, by now we're 1/2 mile from her house. So I had to carry a WET dog all the way back home and now I can't stop smelling her.
It was an absolute gorgeous weekend! I think I may suffer from seasonal depression because I am always *so* much happier when it's nice out. I spent most of the weekend making coffee and ice cream... (life's tough, huh?) there is a coffee/ice cream place up the street from my house and I've become friendly with the owners (two 30year old guys) but they haven't hired their summer help yet and they're totally unorganized so they've been utilizing my very (non)expert skills until they hire some other kids.
It's a NICE SHORT week for me this week, I'm heading to MI tomorrow night. It's time for the conference tournament. Can't wait!
I can hardly believe the horror of what happened yesterday. My heart goes out to everyone touched by the tragedy.
Two of my cousins graduated from Virginia Tech. I've been on that campus, at graduations there, had my first "sleepover" in a college dorm there. Having been in college recently myself I can only imagine what the campus is dealing with right now.
Hi All! On Monday we'll be on the Mike and Juliet Show. Has anyone ever seen this? I've seen tapes but never "real-time" because we don't get it in good old Vermont. I'd love some feedback if anyone's ever seen it AND would *love* to know if you watch on Monday! (Sorry, I'm not sure what time it airs but it's a morning show so... sometime between 9-11am???)
April 16th is National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day! What better way to celebrate than giving away pajamas?!? In honor of this day I am having a contest (my very first one, how exciting!). To enter the contest you must send me a photo of yourself in your pajamas- - at work! I'll be accepting entries until midnight on Monday, April 16th. And the winner, drawn at random, will win a PajamaGram of their choice!
Let me know if you have any questions!
This is my first contest, so... please make it a success!
A National Texting Championship. Sign me up. Most of my friends have had to change their cell-phone plans due to my inability to keep my fingers from, "doing the walking" (or talking as it may be).
There is a draft of the Blogger's Code of Conduct. I think it's a great idea and the same should apply to other communication spaces such as AIM, MySpace, Facebook- -I know lots of people who are harassed through those mediums far too often.
I hope everyone had an enjoyable Easter! Ours was very nice. Today is our first tennis match! (I'm pretty nervous but excited!) The girls are ready, so I'm hoping for the best! Because of this ridiculous weather we're playing inside which is good because that's the only place we've played since the season started!
In case you haven't seen yet, Jen over at Preppy Potato posted some new Daily Deals! (I couldn't help but order two belts.) Here are the images, I'll post pictures of mine when then come! I know I've said this before but... ORDER ONE! :) I'm wearing my other one today and I really just love, love, love them! I'm getting my monogram/initial on this one!
It's Friday woohoo! How does that song go? "Everybody's working for the weekend!" (My bf hates when I do that. I ask how a song goes when really I know if perfectly I'm just looking for an opportunity to break out in musical lyric.) That's true around here, I *love* the weekends. Not too many Easter plans, brunch with one whole side of the family on Sunday. It will be great because my sister and cousin are home from school and I love to spend time with them!
Today I am telling the girls on the team where they are on the ladder and who the captains are. This is the most stressful part of coaching for me I think. Hopefully it goes well!
One last thing... I'm going to be on national television tonight. (A news channel). If anyone happens to catch it, let me know! :) I know I'm not giving very many details, but if you see it it's really obvious.
4 inches of snow last night. What did I do to deserve this? (Like I'm the ONLY one who got snow last night, I know.) It's making me miserable. I need NICE weather, some sun, and DRY tennis courts that HAVE THE NETS UP! Are you LISTENING TOWN RECREATION DEPARTMENT? WE NEED NETS TO PLAY TENNIS.
I had my Easter outfit all picked out but unless the weather changes around here I'm going to be wearing wool pants and a sweater. Yuck.
Did anyone else receive the Vera Bradley mailer yesterday? Pajama Pants? I love it. I couldn't find an image to show, but I'll keep looking!
Non-work related To Do for the Week: tennis ladder finalized switch my turtlenecks/winter sweaters out with my spring clothes (even though snow is in the forecast) cutting/sewing done for next week's quilt class learn 3 new jazzercise songs
My parents 25th wedding anniversary is in June and my sisters and I are planning a party but we can't decide exactly what to do. I thought if I gave all of you some information you could give me some ideas! We don't want to do anything too big but there are 5 families we go on vacation with every year so I think we'll be inviting those 5 families in addition to my aunts/uncles and cousins. In total there will probably be 30-40 people. The ideas we have discussed so far are:
having a party at my house meeting at a bar/restaurant renting a room at an establishment for a party sending them/the couple's to our vacation spot for a weekend
Really, I just want it to be fun and small... any ideas would be MUCH appreciated!
Has anyone seen this? I watched it over the weekend and thought that it was really great. Leo's accent was a little tough for me to believe, oh well. For the first time in a long time I was left with questions at the end of a movie... if you haven't seen it yet, you should.
I hate that. :) My mom would always sing that to us when a vacation was nearing an end, or once all of the guests had left a party. It still reminds me that something far-less-fun is imminent.
What a wonderful weekend. The weather was gorgeous, my boyfriend was here and I didn't have too many "real" plans. Saturday we took a ride to see where he will be living/working this summer. It's beautiful and was a lot nicer than he anticipated which made me feel great because I would hate for him to come to VT for the summer and hate it. There are 10 outdoor tennis courts, 4 indoor courts, two pools, and a golf course... resort living at it's finest. I think he'll be just fine.
Yesterday he and my dad came to a Jazzercise class that I was teaching. Neither one had seen me teach before so that was really fun although I'm not so sure that I have them sold on Jazz yet. I wish I had had a camera to capture them on tape trying to releve, plie, and attitude lift. Yes, it was extremely comical. This morning I woke up to no heat, no hot water and an alarm set for 4:30am because my boyfriend had to be at the airport by 5:15. I dropped him off and went straight to work. Hopefully I'll make up for my unfocused Friday. :)
Hope everyone's weekend was great as well. Oh yes, I picked up lots of wonderful things out shopping this weekend... I can't wait to show you!
