Summer Days

Tonight is my last night of graduate school for the summer. THANK GOD. I will be celebrating by having a drink (drinking heavily) immediately after. This sh*t deserves to be celebrated. Going into the fall I have two classes left and then? I. AM. DONE. Woop! Woop!

Having returned from our wonderful, fabulous vacation and uploading all of the pictures I realized that I AM A FATA$$. Bikini shots from this year compared to last year are DEPRESSING. Really. I'm trying not to think about it too much but it has definitely served as some SERIOUS motivation for me to get BACK into a workout routine and start eating a little more healthy. I don't want to be too hard on myself because last year I was teaching 7 jazz classes/week and doing PT sessions all the time. Right now my focus has been on keeping my head above water while being in grad school full time and dealing with all of these living situations. I need to cut myself a little of a break, but... I also want to feel AWESOME in my bathing suit. I have four weeks before school starts again so I've got some time to figure things out.

(I'm debating putting up the pics for your viewing pleasure (ahem, horror) but I'm not QUITE sure yet...)

I've spoken with BB once since his arrival in TX. Things got a little weird over the weekend and he (for SOME reason) thought that I wanted him to be my boyfriend... I have NO idea why he thought that but we've sorted things out and everything with him seems to be on an upswing. We've texted everyday so that's been nice but it's been difficult to go from texting with him non-stop all day to only a few times. Basically? I'm bored. I hate to even admit that because I've been SO busy this whole summer, but I've gotta come up with some things to occupy my time or I'm going to just go crazy.

One of my best guy friends from HS, S, finally made it to Maine for vacation with us after all of these years and my best friend D did too. It was awesome. My sisters all had their boyfriends there, and me? Well, I brought my friends. Works for me. :) I am so lucky to have the friends that I do. They fit in seamlessly with everyone else in the group and I *so* enjoyed spending some fun, relaxed time with them.

One last night of classes and I'm home free...

On Vacation

I made it to vacation from Boston early yesterday morning. I got a bit of a later start than I had hoped due to being (completely) hungover. When am I going to learn????

The visit with BB went fairly well. It was a little anti-climactic, I think. It's kind of hard to say, I liked him... he liked me... but I'm not exactly sure how things will go. Of course, he's leaving for Iraq on Monday morning for a year, so it's not like anything was really going to materialize anyway.

It's kind of scary how similar we are, really. Our personalities are very much exactly. the. same. Which, I know, can be kind of a disaster sometimes. We were getting ready to go out on Thursday night so I brushed my teeth/hair, put some make up on and changed my clothes while he did the same and when we were both back in the kitchen he turned around and we had both put on t-shirts with anchors on them. Too funny. I was like... "uhhh... can you CHANGE before we go out because it's going to look like we PLANNED this." He didn't seem to think it was that big of a deal. Boys.

Have I mentioned yet that he's in the military? It's not his full-time job (he has a FANTASTIC full-time job) but his team or whatever you call it got called to go to Iraq for a year so Monday morning he heads to Texas for a month then heads to Iraq for 12 months. I can't even really imagine what preparing for that is like, but he seems ready for it.

While I was visiting him I was sitting on his couch and he asks from the kitchen, "What size shirt are you?" I'm thinking- - kind of weird question, but whatev... "Medium usually, " I said. Then he acted all relieved and I was like, what is going on. Well, he had bought me one of his Army shirts with special unit on it and wanted to make sure that he got the right size. So cute.

I'm currently sitting in an Adirondack chair, overlooking the ocean waiting for everyone else to wake up. For the first time in the history of our family vacations I think the boys outnumber the girls. It's a scary thing. They arrived yesterday baring water guns. This is not the kind of "fun" my sisters and I enjoy.

It's bound to be a great weekend though!

Oh My

I have really been terrible with the updates lately. It was a crazy weekend with Sister #3 and her boyfriend visiting. They left Sunday afternoon and then Monday morning Sister #4 arrived for the week so between their visits, the last two weeks of school and admitting to myself that I need to start looking for (ANOTHER) new place to live (don't. even. ask.), it's been a little crazy.

HOWEVER. Tomorrow all 6 of us, plus three significant others, plus two best friends, plus another couple will be descending on our summer vacations spot for (at least) the weekend. WOOHOO!

And? Until then? I'm spending some quality time with BB (Boston Boy) in MA...

yea, you heard me. :)

July 6th? Really?

The last time I posted? I'm majorly slacking. Apologies. I've been busy wrapping up the final week of a math class I'm taking and in full throttle with the other two courses which won't end until July 30th. Life? Pretty much sucks right now.

Except for the new developments on the guy front. Is it possible to fall totally in love with someone strictly via phone and in three days?

KIDDING. It's nothing serious... nothing TOO exciting, but developments nonetheless. There's been an addition to Bartenders 1 & 2 from VT. And, since you're just dying to know, I'm sure... no, he's not a bartender, and no, he's not from VT. (Two gold stars so far for him.) He's not from CT either so I'm not exactly sure how this is going to go, (You know I'm *so* over anything long-distance), BUT I think we're meeting up at some point next week for dinner/drinks. Very fun. At this point in my life, it's all about the "more the merrier." Why not?

In the meantime, if texting were a full time job? I'd have been promoted to President already.

10 down

6 to go. That's right. I got my grades for the last session of summer courses and I got two A's. I'm totally proud of myself and obviously not above some shameless self-promotion. I found out my grades RIGHT after I got a text letting me know my friend found my camera in his car after Friday night. Thank god. Because I had NO idea where I was going to find THAT baby after my crazy night.

I've also spent the day fielding text messages from two boys back home that read something to the effect of:

I wish you could have stayed in VT longer.

I miss you. xoxo

I had so much fun with you this weekend.

You're awesome. You crack me up. So funny.

I've wanted you for so long and now I have this HUGE crush on you.

I guess its all a little flattering but REALLY, I need to remind myself that I'm pretty sure I just like BEING LIKED by these guys I'm not interested in either one of them. At least not seriously. It is fun to always have plans when I'm home though.

Good thing I won't be home for over a month, they'll have some time to come to their senses. Bottom line? I'm pretty sure NEITHER of them could handle me on a regular basis. I can be...difficult. To say the least.

I Don't Even Know Where to Start

This is a long one. I warned you.

We got an early start on Thursday afternoon so we made it home in time for a late dinner with the whole family. Before we even got home my mom called to tell us that she and my dad had stopped by the bar we were having my sister’s birthday party at to check in and make sure we were all set so, we decided to meet them for a drink on our way home.

The bartender who was working (also the guy who owns the bar) was the same one who professed his love to me last time I was home, asked me out to dinner, then stood me up. (Oh, I didn’t tell you that story?!?! Oops.) He has since apologized but I still gave him the cold shoulder when I first saw him. I mean, come on.

So we have our drink, head home and wait for everyone else to get there to have dinner. Dinner, was awesome. I decided to quit WW so I ate lasagna, bread, butter and had, I think….6 beers before it was all said and done. I enjoyed EVERY last bite. It was so good. Dinner was also fun because it was the first time we were all together again and there are always so many stories to tell. We laughed so hard.

Sister #2 was turning 22 at midnight and because we ate such a late dinner we headed to the bar down the street (my favorite bar) around 11:30 to have a (couple) drinks in her honor. A bunch of my friends from high school were there so I ended up closing down the bar (go figure) and hung out late-night with one of my friends.

Friday morning I was HUNGOVER but woke up to take my cousin’s three kids strawberry picking. I was feeling better by the afternoon and got my haircut (it’s totally stylish and awesome) and then got ready to head down to the bar for my sister’s birthday. I was still not feeling the best from the night before so I took it totally easy and drank water for the first two hours I was there. Then, I had that first glass of wine. That was the end for me… the rest of the night is kind of a blur and totally fuzzy but here’s what I do remember.

I went home (got a ride) around 10:30pm to have cake for the birthday. I walked in to everyone singing happy birthday to my sister and, I don’t what came over me, but I took my fork and completely DUG IN to the cake. With the candles still burning. In the middle of the song. I guess that was me, waving my middle finger at WW and saying a big “Eff You.” Of course, I wasn’t ready for the night to be over so I decided that I would head over to my friends house, only, I couldn’t drive so I had to settle for getting a ride back down to the bar we were just at. The boys dropped me off on their way downtown and I picked up right where I left off. Dancing with the bartender who blew me off last time I was home. I guess I decided to forgive him. Blame it on the wine.

I noticed this VERY cute boy sitting at the bar so I wandered over and nonchalantly told him that he, “is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen and OMIGOD, how do I not know you.” He may have just been indulging me, but he seemed TOTALLY into it. Until his cousin came over. His cousin? Is the bartender. The one who has a crush on me. The one who I went BACK to the bar to hangout with. The one who was coming home with us at the end of the night. Oops.

(This is the part that I DON’T remember so it’s totally based on other’s retelling of the evening.)

We hung out until the bar closed and I, obviously ready to head home, decide that it would be faster to walk than wait for a cab. (Me and my great ideas.) I had had too much to drink to go back to my house so the bartender called my mom and let them know I’d be staying on the couch at their place. It was POURING rain (which explains why my hair was fro’d out Saturday morning) but still, I thought it’d be fun to walk. The guys didn’t think so but they followed me anyway (will they EVER learn?) and we got ½ way to his house before his brother picked us up and drove us the rest of the way.

We walked in and I was greeted by a HUGE dog. (You know how I feel about that.) so I just laid down and immediately passed out.

(This is where I start remembering things again.)

I woke up at 8am and headed to the bathroom- - I found it on the third try and thought that it looked a little… put together to be a guy’s bathroom but I also couldn’t see anything so I just headed back to lay down. I came to again around 8:30 and realized I was still in my party dress from the night before. (Strike one.) I also realized that I had NO idea what town I was in. (Strike TWO.) I found the bartender and told him that I was going to be late for the parade party and I needed to go home right away. He said he’d be right out so I headed back to the living room and when I walked by the kitchen I noticed there was someone sitting in there.

His mother.

I’m not even kidding. (That explains the bathroom.) There I was in the SAME DRESS I had seen her in the night before, at EIGHT THIRTY IN THE MORNING, wandering around her house.

He lives with his mom and (apparently) forgot to mention that to me. (Strike THREE.) He comes out of his room and wakes his cousin up saying, “alright, we’ve got to go” I just figured he wanted company for the ride. At the same time he’s saying this, his mom says, “Oh, you’re not DRIVING, are you?” He doesn’t have a license. (I’m all OUT OF STRIKES.) Can you BELIEVE THIS?!?!??!?!?!?!?!

His cousin (the really hot one) drove me home and then, I had to deal with my family. Reminding me about my antics the night before…

This story/weekend? Gets better.
